Preparation
The experts at Johnstone’s know that the key to a perfect finish is in the preparation so take your time now, follow the simple steps below and you will be rewarded with a gorgeous new look. Start by making sure all surfaces to be painted are clean, dry and free from grease and loose or flaking material. Any existing crazed or flaking paint should be removed. Prime bare timber and metal surfaces with an appropriate primer. If your wood has been previously painted, rub down with a fine waterproof abrasive paper and then rinse thoroughly. Please avoid inhaling any sanding dust and always wear a face mask if dry sanding.
Application
Now you are at the stage where you are ready to begin painting so give the paint a thorough stir. Johnstone’s paints are made to the highest standard and are ready to use straight from the tin so there is no need for any thinners. For the best results apply using a brush or roller. Apply liberally and avoid overspreading. Make sure you do not apply in temperatures below 10ºC. The contents of this tin will cover approximately 9m² (750ml), 3m² (250ml) depending on the nature and porosity of the surface.
Cleaning
Once you have completed all your painting make sure you remove as much product as possible from your brush and then clean immediately using warm soapy water.
